They pretend to be involved with card services for your credit card and offer you reduced credit card rates. They ask you to type in your credit card into the phone for verification which the phishing scam. They just want you to enter the number in. You should never give out any information about your credit card over the phone to someone randomly calling you. Always hang up and call the number on the back of your card. December 20, 2014, 9:33 pm FTC has been clear. Reduced credit card rate offers over the phone that require you to enter your number in are illegal and not coming from real companies. This is fraud. These people are trying to pull a fast one on you with lies about reductions in rates. No reductions exist this easily. Your card company will send you papers or tell you when you call them , they will not call you ask for your number. They already have it on file. December 29, 2014, 10:17 pm I once held these guys on line for 2 hours by running my own scam. I told them I wanted their lower rates but could not find my card. I held them on line while I looked all over the house and in my car then pretended to talk to my wife about where it was. The call got dropped and they called me back. Talk about hungry and stupid. January 12, 2015, 12:47 pm Medical devices and coupon packs for groceries. It's the "I've fallen and I can't get up" device packaged with thousands of dollars of grcoery coupons. I believe the real scam here is to send you the device for free with only shipping needing to be paid and then they bill you $30.00 a month for the alert service. January 23, 2015, 11:36 am These people call several times a week & it varies--usually the recording says "Card Services". Have hit 1 and told an actual person I'm on DNC, but they hang up before the words are out of my mouth. Tried hitting the 0 button and the call disconnects. Wish we could find out who these people are and start a class action lawsuit. What they're doing is illegal. If any attorneys read this & decide to start a lawsuit against these jerks, please post how to get in touch with you. I will definitely sign up. If I try to call this number back the phone company tells me to check my number because the number I dialed is no longer in service or disconnected or I dialed the wrong number!? February 5, 2015, 6:01 pm Exactly the same experience as Dee reports. Now I'm sure the number is spoofed. They could be calling from anywhere. But it took me a while to figure it out. April 18, 2015, 3:39 pm They just called my 94 year old Grandmother in a retirement home in Ontario and told her that I had died in a car crash. My Grandmother was in serious health problems with her heart because of this call. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED!!!! The telephone (918) 570-5402 comes up as Life Alert. If they don't tell you the credit card brand and just say "card services" this is a scam hoping you will just assume they are the genuine credit card company. Big time con-artists using automated systems to trick people with fake sounding menus. The reduced credit card interest rates are a lure ot skim your card data with the verification they will ask for. You will be billed hundreds of dollars if you fall for this.
