I called Synchrony Bank and they said there was no record of anyone calling me for fraud as was stated by the caller. I wouldn't trust this line at all. use the number on the back of your card. October 16, 2015, 4:29 pm this number belongs to Synchrony Bank/Financial, which I understand bought GE Capital's porfolio, which in turn included client/debtor data of holders of numerous retail credit cards (Target, rooms to go, etc etc, ). So they are using the phone numbers, postal addresses of everybody in GE's data to reactivate long-cancelled, expired credit agreements..OR WORSE...it's a scam I got a robocall from synchrony which right of the bat said they were calling regarding my account (which doesn't exist) and asked for last 4 of my social; when i put '0000'..it asked for my name, then my address, etc...and i hung up but called back. A guy with an indian accent who admitted he was calling from India , again asked for my social #...when I asked how they got my number he said , 'but you called me'....when a said it was a callback , he said i had to identify my acct, social, address, etc...I said you people just called me unsolicited re an acct i did not have ,and on and on..i then told him to never call and to hang up , and he refused to hang up unless i did first... So the calls is most likely regarding medical bills that you have or have ignored. Best to speak to them to find out what the debt is so you can decide what action to take from their or determine if the debt claims are a mistake. November 2, 2015, 1:57 pm I have been getting calls from these people 2 and sometimes 3 times a day for a number of weeks now. If I don't answer the phone they don't leave a message. If they are legit I expect them to leave a message so that is a red flag and a clue that they are scammers. The couple of times I have answered I am automatically put on hold to wait for the "next customer service rep". What???? They called me!!! I need to figure out how to make them stop harrassing me. November 10, 2015, 4:50 pm Had a Guitar center card with Capital one bank and was moved to synchrony bank without my knowledge. When I activated my new guitar center card, that's when the rouge calls started and have them blocked on my verizon cell. They do keep calling 3 times a day, but I don't hear it....blocked. I will be ending this line of credit with synchrony (BALONY) bank, they don't even take payments via a credit card. Sketchy bank should be the name. Cash me out. November 15, 2015, 11:58 am I received a call stating from synchrony bank for past bill. I gave my debit# because I have paid to synchrony bank before. Then I thought well who's the creditor. I hung up and called the number back, a lady with an Indian accent tried to look up my name & phone# but could not find it. She asked me for my birthday &ss# I told her no and asked how could she not have any information on me when they're who called me. If you owe synchrony bank please call the bank and talk to them. Never give your date of birth or SS# or debit card number once you do the caller has your information. November 29, 2015, 12:12 pm I received a call from "Walgreens Pharmacy" and the call went to my voicemail. My "prescription", in Milwaukee, was ready for pick-up. One problem, I don't live in Milwaukee. So when I called back, to let the scammers know I am filing a police report, I received a message from "Synchrony Bank". December 1, 2015, 3:14 pm They called asking if i wanted to make a payment on my care credit account since i had a payment that was due at the end of the month. Obviously i would have a payment due every month, but they never called before. I told the lady i wasnt handling any business with her over the phone and she continued trying to ask me if i wanted to update my home address or home phone number. December 2, 2015, 6:17 pm It is a Synchrony Bank phone number. It is legitimate as far as I can tell. It is related to credit/loans that are overdue. It is NOT JUST FOR MEDICAL BILLS, as many people have stated. In my case, it is related to my having financed a sewing machine through them. They are not a scam, but they are poorly setup and staffed and there is a lot of confusion when talking to them. I do get calls from them every few months because I have never successfully been able to set up auto-pay on the account and sometimes it slips through the cracks, as they send e-bills. They are a pain-in-the-*** to deal with but they are not a scam. That said, never ever give out your personal info on the phone. Be safe, call them back! Caller Type: Debt Collector

December 17, 2015, 4:26 pm I get calls from this number 4-5xs daily. I do have a care credit account that is past due. So it makes sense why "synchrony bank" is calling me (If its really them). They've never left a message but, like everyone else has said here, I would not give any personal information to who ever it is calling. You'd be better off calling the number on the back of the card, or going to their website for further assistance. Something doesn't seem all the way right with that. December 26, 2015, 2:57 pm I got this message on my work cell, regarding an account in my spouse's name for which my cell # is not associated. So, I don't know why they are now calling this number, instead of hers, or instead of our shared land line --- as they had previously done. I do not believe it to be a scam, since it is the identical message she used to receive sometimes from Synchrony Bank. And those calls were legitimate. When I asked for more detail she would not provide it. I asked to speak to supervisor and was put on hold for a very long time until I hung up. Definitely something very phishy!

January 21, 2016, 4:35 pm I get a call from these people 3-5 times a day, always the same nonsense. They do not stop, even after months. Presumably they collect on account of clinics, but the person they call for isn't behind on any medical debts so it's pretty clear that they are just using some record database somewhere with medical patients on it. Definitely will not leave you alone until you deal with them! Block the number or force them to send you a letter, that should deal with it. February 1, 2016, 4:21 pm Got 4 phone calls from this number of the weekend and 2 today. I gave them a call back today and they said "we notice you are calling from a phone in your profile, please enter the last 4 of your social" after that, they told me my balance was a ridiculous amount and then went into a menu system. The menu system is what got me, it was identical to the one at the real SyncBank. I asked for an operator thinking this was a notification of a bad charge making my account balance that high. I got an Indian woman on the phone and she asked for my account number. Idiot me, I gave it to her and she claimed she didn't hear it due to static and for me to call back. I told her okay and then called the number of the back of my credit card. I told them this whole thing and they said that the number did not belong to (the real) SyncBank. I cancelled my account and set a new one up. Don't get scammed by this number. I've had 100% accuracy in detecting scam calls so far and I fell for this one. I didn't answer, but check on here and assuming it was them from all the posts; I logged onto my account, and sure enough I was past due "and marked for "noticed to collect". April 27, 2016, 1:29 pm The caller ID comes up either with the phone number or with "Syndicate Bank". Calling multiple times per day with a recorded message for someone I've never heard of. I looked them up online and "Syndicate Bank" is a banking institution in India. My phone system does not allow me to block calls. If I don't answer they leave the recording on voice mail. May 31, 2016, 10:39 pm Possibly not a scam. Husband talked to them when they called tonight. They were supposedly from Care Credit, looking for someone with the same last name who paid for dental work through Care Credit. Of course, the caller might be after a payment that has already been made, or that is legally out of date and can't be collected on. I'm going to invoke my federal legal rights and tell them not to call again. I hope it works. I once received a real collection call that started with them demanding my SSN.
