April 12, 2016, 12:39 pm Same guy called me last night while i was driving home and said he was a technician from HP and would not believe me that I was not at my "compu" (that's what he kept calling it). I told him i was driving and hung up. Then this afternoon he called again and said "This is Tom from last night. Automated caller that wants to skim your credit card with an automated system using a lure of lowered interest rates. Fraud. They bill you hundreds of dollars after the skim is finished. April 13, 2016, 1:35 am A guy with Indian accent said he was calling me to let me know "somebody" had hacked into my gmail account. I told him I was in the DO NOT CALL registry, why was he calling me. I kept hearing sounds of people in a house doing dishes, etc. I asked him his name and he said "John Smith " - told him, I was queen Elizabeth a hole. I ended hanging up cause he wanted to transfer me to "Technical support "

May 13, 2016, 4:16 pm Got a "unknown" call and when I answered it was a guy of Indian decent (VERY hard to understand) saying he was from yahoo and that they were contacted about people complaining about getting bad emails from my email address.... Told him I was hacked a few months back and he said he could tell me how to fix the problem and lock the emails from getting my stuff.... I told him to just tell me now (as I didn't have a computer with me) how to do it and he said it would be a long 30-45 minute process and that he could call me back at a later time... I told him okay call back in 3 hours... This time he called from this number.. I told him I was not going to give him any info as I did not believe he was from yahoo and he wanted to give me an 800 number to call.... I didn't take the number and he got pissy! I hung up! So I tired calling the number back twice both times I got a recording saying that number was disconnected. I will be more cautious the next time that number calls me and I will probably cuss him out. I just wanted to see if the caller would identify him/herself, but they quickly hung up. I didn't take any chances and just blocked the number immediately. Usually I just tell them I know they're a scam and hang up, but today I asked the caller's name (with obvious Indian-type accented voice) - he said Eric Ericson lol. Asked the name of the company and phone number to reach a supervisor (phone # is non-working of course) - he wouldn't give me a name for that supervisor. Then I asked what city and state and he said an unintelligible named city in NY. The caller ID said Newark NJ. I then ended the call with a thank you for all the information for my police report. Claimed my "2010-2014" taxes were audited--you know, because audits happen only for four year periods? Claimed an officer was coming to arrest me in 45 minutes. Wanted me to withdraw cash from the bank, and go to the nearest store and buy "Apple bond cards"... Because apparently the IRS only accepts payments in iTunes gift cards. Laughably bad scam. Claimed if I didn't wanna pay I'd have to go to Washington DC and hire a criminal defense attorney because somehow my supposed $5000 deficit would net me 20-30k fine and 5 years in prison. December 28, 2016, 10:18 am Calls repeatedly to say that they are from BGE and claims will turn off your electric. Even if you look up your account and see it is paid in full they will say that the last payment was applied to a different account erroneously and if you don't make another payment it will turn off and can't be reversed for 24 hours or more. I male with an East Indian accent says that his name is "Scott Williams ", when I told him I didn't know who he was he started chewing on something into the receiver and I hung up. He called back several times after that and I answered the phone with, " Thank you for calling, this phone call was being recorded, how may I help you " they hung up immediately. January 4, 2017, 12:44 pm Got a call and when my husband answered a male, called him grandpaw, and when my husband put me on he called me grandmaw. He was very upset and said his friend was all eaten up by cancer. I knew it was a scam, as my grandkids don't call me that, and I played along for awhile, saying how sorry I was, but then I really had to leave for an appointment, so I hung up.
