July 16, 2015, 8:18 am Stupid Indian man telling me that it was very important to get over to my computer so he could address some virus infection problems that were infecting the whole network. Took me into the admin panel and tried to setup remote connections so he could manage my computer himself. I played along with this because I had already heard of this scam. He yelled at me at the end because nothing was helping him infect me. Caller Company: Computer Tech Loser Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

July 25, 2015, 2:43 pm Lame tech support scam. They are Indian sounding and wanted to discuss my pc computer virus, which is funny since I have a mac. Good idea to play around with these scumbags anbd just pretend to infect yourself with problems you don't understand like you are naive idiot with a computer. The point of these calls is to mislead you into thinking they helped you so you will trust them and then buy a 9 year tech support membership for hundreds of dollars. August 1, 2015, 12:58 pm I always answer these calls acting like I don't speak English or like I'm high. Guy said he was from Rainbow.....Systems or Technologies. He started trying to ask what kind of computer I use, I said I don't take sales calls and hung up. From the other comments sounds like he would have pushed farther. August 4, 2015, 4:08 pm A woman with a heavy East Indian accent called my cell phone from what sounded like a call center with heavy volume, with the claim that my computer is infected with hackers seeking to "take control of my bank account." According to her, my computer was sending "alerts" to Microsoft, and that her company, Geek Support Live, was contracted by Microsoft to help me rid my machine of this malady. As convincing as it all appeared, I was skeptical and asked her a few logistical questions only to discover how well and intricately this scam had been rehearsed. She answered all of my questions without stumbling, repeating the question, and with generally plausible answers. The point is that it seemed so genuine, though I knew it to be a farce because I'm certain that my name, address, and cell phone number are NOT registered with Microsoft, nor my computer manufacturer. The scammer wanted to have me to navigate to showmypc.com through the run dialogue box. Apparently, from reading the posts here, as well as from several other scam reporting sites, they are seeking remote access or a VPN to take control of my computer. In fact, the folks at showmypc.com are aware of this scam and advise against giving out access to anyone of which you do not know, or who has called you. A week prior to this incident, I'd also received a call very similar to this with the only difference being that an Indian man was trying to gain VPN access by ushering me through the Windows Command Prompt. August 6, 2015, 4:37 pm I have received several calls from this number telling me they have been getting msgs that my computer is infected. I played along and said I hadn't noticed, the phone went dead, tried calling them back and the msg says this is a non working number, of course it's working, they just called from it, who are these people??, heavy Indian accents. Well I did some digging and the number reverts back to a company called Allstream in Toronto, Canada, their financial situation seems a bit sketchy, I don't think they are legit and if they are, they are a bunch of lying thieves. August 10, 2015, 11:26 pm Got a call from this number earlier and a woman with a very thick accent was telling me that she was calling about my Windows computer.it was very loud in the background, obviously a call center, so I told her I couldn't hear her and she repeated herself. I told her that I don't have a Windows computer and she tried to tell me that I did. I told her she has the wrong number and she tried talking over me telling me that she didn't have the wrong number. I ended up hanging up on her. I don't own a computer, just a phone and iPad so it's clearly a scam. Anyone know how they're getting our numbers? Caller Company: Didn't say Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 13, 2015, 7:44 pm Definitely a scam. Please shut these fools down! They are reading from a script, obviously, and their English is not very good (mis-pronounciations, etc.). Please stop them! Caller Company: not identified. Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 19, 2015, 12:02 am Another call from a Microsoft support scammer. I've had a few of these this month. They sound like they are Indian in descent and they always say I have a virus and got my number from their records based on my ip. My ip changes every time I connect to the internet so that was the first obvious sign that this was a scammer even though I already knew from the 4 or 5 other calls this month. August 20, 2015, 5:08 pm Just got a call from them about 1/2 hour ago from (800-845-6565). Strong accent like others reported. Sounded more E European to me but could have been Indian. They said they were from Geek Squad. I asked them several times "what computer are you referring too?" and they said "your computer" . Then I asked them "then who am I" until they hung up. Knew it was a scam pretty quickly since I do all my computer stuff and never used a service. Caller Company: Geek Squad - 800-845-6565 Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 21, 2015, 5:47 pm Today is the 2nd time I've gotten a call from this number, 800 845 6565. 1st time I answered. I was told the geek squad was calling and that my computer has a virus and they need to access my computer remotely. I told the person (very heavy accent) that I don't own a computer, and that he must have a wrong number. This annoyed him. He didn't know what to say. Today I just didn't bother to answer the call. I usually don't bother picking up if I don't know who is calling. How do we put these low-lifes out of business? ...and how do they get our private phone numbers? Mine is my home number... seriously, does anyone know where they are getting our numbers from? Caller Company: 800 service Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 21, 2015, 7:17 pm I am getting one or two calls each day from this number (plus other unidentified calls).I am on the DNC list. I think they got my number (land line)from a false ad I found about applying for a Chase Bank Slate card. It looked completely ligit until it got to the page where you have to accept or reject their terms. I started reading their terms, and discovered that they wanted the right to phone me about other offers, and to share my phone number with other companies so they can also phone me. I immediately got a sick feeling, because I realized they now had all my contact info, and they could care less whether or not I gave them permission to use it. I learned NEVER to fill out any application you see in an ad. Go directly to the company website so that you know who's getting your contact info. Caller Company: Not identified. My phone just reads "Customer Service." Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 25, 2015, 6:50 pm First got a call from an unidentified #. He fumbled for the first 10 seconds of the call, then said he was from Microsoft calling about my computer and paused for awhile. When I said "yes and what about it?" he repeated himself. I told him he was obviously a scammer who should quite while he was ahead, and said I would report his number, then hung up. Got a call back immediately from #800-845-6565, and upon pickup, heard the same voice call me a bitch. At which point I hung up again. Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 27, 2015, 12:40 pm Claims that my computer has a virus and want me to connect to a service that will allow them to remote control my computer so they can fix it for me - for free no less. What they will try to do after you allow them access to your computer so they can infect it, then will demand a credit card to fix it. I can not believe the FTC or phone companies can not do a better job of shutting these people down. I have been getting calls from this same number with the same scam for at least three weeks now. If I neglected to pay my bill, they would shut my line down in a flash. Caller Company: Indian Dude Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

A person with a heavy accent said they had a contract with Microsoft to alert people that they may be infected and started asking me questions. I told him I would not give him access to my computer. He told me to type in certain letters and I told him I would not and that I suspected this was a scam. He told me good luck with my problems and hung up. Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher
