April 4, 2013, 4:15 pm Computer hackers calling and faking a support call. They want to make you believe that typical errors on your computer are a sign that something is wrong. Don't be fooled by anything and just hang up. Caller Company: Fake tech support Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

April 22, 2014, 5:50 pm This telemarketing scam calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They refuse to provide a non toll-free phone number when asked, in further violation of the TCPA. They are calling claiming to have a discounted loan offer that I have been pre-qualified for, but they claim they need me to answer a bunch of qualification questions. This is quite clearly a scam, as legitimate lenders do not place unsolicited calls to offer random people loans. Do not provide this scammer with any personal or financial information. December 27, 2014, 3:46 pm MS Tech Support Scam. They pretend to be involved with virus support for your computer, but it;s all a lie. They are from India using ip phones to defraud you. Microsoft has been quite clear about this scam on their website: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/calls-from-661-748-0240-saying-they-are-microsoft/6f4d9674-7298-40cd-9ae9-0f2c38a74554 and http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx Caller Company: 661-748-0240 Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

December 29, 2014, 1:06 am Claimed to be a computer support specialist to help me fix a virus on my computer. This is a big famous scam now. They sell you fake support memberships and even try to sell you software which is actually free. Often they have thick Indian accents which should give you suspicious that this scam is being run from some call centre in India. Caller Company: Indian Tech Support Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

March 23, 2015, 6:48 am Indian accented man calling to tell me about a serious virus infection on my computer which was putting the whole internet at risk and I needed to have it fixed asap. he told me to check an admin panel in windows to see a bunch of errors there as proof of the problem. These are not dangerous errors in reality, every computer has them for normal operation. They may at the end of the call try to change your settings remotely if you give them your ip and change settings for them. They may also try to sell you hundreds of dollars of tech support memberships to prevent the fake virus infection from happening again and lucky you you'd never need to call them again after paying them $300 dollars or more. They also sell software which is available for free online. Caller Company: Tech Support Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

July 11, 2015, 3:35 am I am getting fake IRS calls on this line. As of today I got 3 calls from the same number. These people said they were the government IRS office and that I had illegally evaded taxes which needed to be paid immediately or I would face arrest and legal action. They are Indian in descent which is obvious from the accent. Caller Company: Fake IRS Indian Man Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

August 3, 2015, 7:21 am Indian accented fools calling about virus infections. They claim to work for Microsoft and guy even told me he was currently in the California office at MS as he was speaking me. All lies and scam talk. I've heard about these scammers on the news so I was way ahead of the guy. Just play with them and watch them get angry and yell at you for fun. August 14, 2015, 9:10 pm Scam artists pretending to be from the IRS claiming I owe them a $3000 in back taxes and need to send them a $300 payment to stop them from coming after me with the police. Fraud is written all over this. The real IRS does not make calls like this. They send everything in writing first and don't ask for green dot card payments. That is low standard. November 3, 2015, 2:38 am Obvious scammers who will fake being involved with companies like Microsoft in their tech support department or security department. This is not true and you are actually listening to a sales call for tech support services which will fake a virus fix to make you feel that you need to protect yourself with their services after they tell you that you computer is fixed. FTC is after these scumbags. Caller Company: MICROSOFT FRAUD Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

They sell you hundreds of dollars of tech support services which might not even work. it could all be fake. You get billed the money and they laugh while calling the next naive computer user to rip off. Criminal enterprise here. Caller Company: Tech Cons Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

December 7, 2015, 5:56 pm I have 3 missed calls on my cell from this number. I have not called back any of them. Strongly suspect they are related to scam from Go Net Fix LLC for supposed Safari crash on my iPad. Unfortunately I fell or it and stupidly gave them my credit card info for payment of $69 for the fix! Subsequently I have received an email requesting me to click on a link that will authorize the payment to my credit card. Have not/will not do this. Suspect phone calls are trying to pester me and who knows...perhaps threaten consequences if I do not authorize payment. Have notified Apple and my Visa of scam. a "ONE-TIME FIX which CANNOT BE DISPUTED. Also received email requesting me to click on a link to authorize the $69 one Caller Company: No Name Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

January 10, 2016, 9:26 am I received a call from this number as well. A heavily accented gentleman wanted me to give an estimate for some lead paint removal on a home in Buffalo, N.Y. I vaguely remember a few months back receiving a call back from an ad on Craigslist from a women who needed to replace a stolen water heater at the same address. I may go and meet this individual who called last night to see if legit. Caller Company: Marshall Carpio Caller Type: Unknown |
