September 18, 2013, 2:01 am Craigslist scammer. They want to rip you off with a fake certified check by overpaying and then get you to send them the real money. Most often this scam is run as some kind of shipping scam requiring payments to western union to pay a shipping company (which is fake) to buy your item. Before it bounces in a couple weeks, they will pressure you to send them your own money for the amount their check will be over the actual price of the item you listed. Scammer who needs to be ignored. This is becoming a big problem on classified sites now. March 15, 2015, 3:31 pm Criagslist scammers asking for my name and address to send me a certified scam check which would include an extra $100 for holding my item for them and setting up the shipping on my own. Big popular scam. It's disheartening because you get excited that you can easily sell your item and then have to be disappointed that it's only a scammer.
