May 28, 2013, 9:02 pm Called my house saying they were calling from the US Government and that I'd won an 8000.00 grant and only had to send them 280.00 processing fee. When i told them anything they wanted to try and get from me thery could only have when they sent me something through certified mail he talked over me as if I hadn't said anything and same thing when i asked why if he was US Government did the caller ID come up as Ontario. Again I got talked over. I hung up saying I'm not interested and to take my name off the list. He not only called back but called back four times that day alone. In the last four days he's called back at least 4 times a day, and today he not only called back but called back as soon as i'd hung up. He wanted me to be in front of the computer so he could show me how many errors messages I was getting. He was obviously to obtain remote access to my computer or sell me something. July 5, 2013, 8:29 pm I just unswered this number (after many missed calls) and a guy with really bad accent that I barely understood him, told me he was calling from the US government police department, really?!?? And that he is going to arrest my husband ( and he knew my husband's first name) and I have to pay $7,500 if I don't want him to get arrested . I told him I am going to call FBI to investigate him and he told me don't talk to much, then I asked for his name and said Erick something because I couldn't understand him and then I asked him why would he arrest my husband but I don't know what he was saying .... July 7, 2013, 3:07 pm Got a call from a man who said he was in California and that my computer was indicating an error code that if not corrected would crash my hard dive. Wanted me to download some software so he could take control of my PC and correct the problem. He had a strong accent that sounded Indian. When I asked for more information and identification of the company and problem he began to become pushy. I told him to email me with more information and hung up. July 11, 2013, 6:49 pm I just received a phone call from this number telling me I needed to run a diagnostic on my Windows computer that there were error messages being sent to them, and I needed to hit the Windows button and the r button in order to do the scan. I told them I wasn't going to do that, and the person on the other end of the line called me a motherf***er. I asked to speak to a manager, and they pretended to be somebody else. When I told the "manager" the problem, and that I none of our computers were working wrong, and that I was going to bring in my own computer tech, they called me a motherf***er again. Caller had a thick accent asked me to press cntr r keys, type into the run window. This site will load remote software on your computer. They want to gather information and load software onto your computer for them to have remote access. Report these people to your local FBI office. July 13, 2013, 6:39 pm A guy called us today and tried to tell me a story that he was from MICROSOFT; he needed to call me, because they (mircosoft) were receiving messages always when one "of your computers" is booting; "we always receive e-mails from you". He wanted me to turn on my computer and give him further details. As a specialist I started asking him some nice question from a lay customers position and he tried to pull my leg ...: Our "system would create problems with youtube and facebook". "He urgently needed to help us." So I asked him, how he had gotten our phone number (because it's blocked). He shot back at me: "From your registration!" That was a big mistake, because we're registered outside the U.S.. The caller definitifely tried to start a phishing, the caller /-company is a scammer. I told him clearly that his call was documented and that our lawyers will sue him and who ever is behind it, if he calls us again. He hung up ... . July 18, 2013, 5:50 pm I have gotten at least 7 calls from this guy with an Indian accent and today from a woman with a similar accent. The first call came about three months ago and at a time I was having problems with my computer. He said he was the technical rep with "Windows" and saw I was having trouble with my computer. He asked me to give him access to my computer and showed me a bunch of red errors on my system. He wanted me to agree to pay $200 if he fixed the problems. I agreed and he spent a lot of time "fixing" the problems. Then he called back and asked that I wire the $200 to a guy in India and I said are you nuts? He then put a code on my computer and I totally lost access to it and had to buy a new computer and lost precious files. July 27, 2013, 4:29 pm I too received several calls from an individual with a thick Indian accent claiming to have knowledge that my computer was experiencing harmful issues and that I needed to type AMMYY in my address bar so I asked him from where was he calling. He stated Los Angeles CA so I asked him how the weather was there, after so muffled talking he returned to say very pleasant so I then asked him what time it was there in LA and he provided an incorrect time so when I questioned him and stated he was not telling the truth he became belligerent and started to make sexual harassing comments so I hung up only to continue to receive more sexually explicit phone calls for two days now.. To whom can we report this activity?? Is there any law enforcement body that will investigate this matter?? I do have one voicemail he left with sexual remarks. I know for a fact that Microsoft DOES NOT EVER call customers, NEVER,NEVER (they just really don't care that much about you or your computer to ever make that much effort) so I just took down his phone number. July 5, 2014, 11:05 pm I received the same call today. He called 4 times with a bad connection speaking Spanish after the 5th attempt call from this number ( 416) 364-1111. I blocked him! I also have verizon service. I went into my call log clicked on his number, scrolled down to the bottom and hit block this caller it was that easy! I think the caller is getting our numbers from certain websites we are inputting our information in, I believe the website sells our information to these people. I made a HUGE mistake and shared my number online about a week ago to a work at home magazine. Since I have done this I have received scam emails and now this call. July 30, 2014, 2:02 pm I just got a call from this number claiming to be a "Microsoft certified technician." The guy asked for 'Brenda' and proceeded to tell me my computer was downloading viruses. He wanted me to let him "walk me through" the steps to resolve the issue. The connection was so bad I could barely hear him. I asked him why he thought he could help me with a problem I didn't have when he didn't even ask for the right person. He apologized and hung up. I will never answer the phone with a suspicious number such as this. They can leave me a detailed message of why they're calling me. I'll be the one to filter who I talk to! January 12, 2015, 7:36 pm Keep getting these calls. Anything from sales to Microsoft. Mid-eastern speaking people. When you dial the number back, it always rings busy. Sometimes it is a disconnected cell or land line number, probably hooked to a router. Sometimes I get these call at 6am or late at night. Got caller block on a Panasonic phone. The other day I received a couple and when I talked to the guy (obviously foreign) he told me that I was randomly selected for a grant of 8400 and I would need to give him my credit card or bank info. I declined because I knew it was a scam and told him I was going to call the police. Then he read me my address and told me he was coming to blow my house up. Kind of frightening. I'm a veteran so it was particularly alarming with everything going on in the world. I contacted police and they said not to worry about it. Not even a report was taken. May 30, 2015, 9:44 am They called my elderly parent. They asked for me then asked her to do something on my computer - I don't have a computer but use one at the library. They then pressure my parent into giving them my cell number; however, they never called me. It should be noted we got this call after I tried to buy something on a Canadian website. I entered my name, address, and phone number, but the purchase was not made because my card was rejected. I think the purpose of these calls it primarily to verify personal data (name, phone #, address) obtained from the internet by nefarious means. They sell this information to people search sites - THIS IS NOT A SCAM BUT A SPYING OPERATION. My advice: (1) DO NOT PICK UP A CALL FROM AN AREA CODE YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE. (2) DO NOT HAVE A VOICEMAIL/ANSWER MACHINE (AM) GREETING WITH YOUR OWN VOICE. A CAPTURE OF YOUR VOICE CAN BE USED TO DEVELOP YOUR PROFILE AND ALLOW YOUR IDENTIFICATION ON ANY OTHER PHONE. USE A STANDART GREETING OR A TAPPING SOUND INSTEAD. (3) DO GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION AND DO NOT ANSWER OR ASK ANY QUESTIONS - JUST HANGUP!!! October 20, 2015, 5:54 am This is misleading tech scammer who pretends to be with Microsoft and tells you lies about your computer having a virus that only they can fix with a remote access solution requiring your assistance. They are actually a clever sales company for fake tech support that just wants to trick you into trusting them so you will buy more service off them in the future. They are going to fake a fix to the virus and then try to sell you hundreds of dollars worth of tech support. The FTC has called this scam a very misleading sales operation,.
