Very phishy sounding, but this is how many debt collection agencies behave due to legal rules that require them to act very technical in how they discuss personal information related to debts. There are privacy laws so they may sound like weirdo criminals when they call you, but they are actually trying to legally avoid breaking the law while simultaneously verifying information on you so they can build a profile or decide how else to pursue or if you are worth further expenses to chase after. July 1, 2015, 9:04 am This was a medical debt collection company called "IMC Credit Services" phoning about medical bills that are unpaid. There is no way I can afford to pay these people in my current financial condition. Both me and my husband have had to undergo surgeries in the past few years which required a lot of time off work to recover. They call all hours even very early in am and as late as 1030 pm. They give their first name but will not say what they are calling about. Would not tell me who she was with until I refused to verify information, then said "IMC Credit Services". I hung up because I know I have no outstanding debts. She continually said it was a "personal matter" and continued to ask for birth date. May 9, 2016, 3:57 pm Yeah they called me today I called him back the first woman was very rude would not tell me who they were in regards to personal business and they want you to verify date of birth just like I lov yeah they called me today I called him back the first woman was very rude would not tell me who they were in regards to personal business and they want you to verify data birth which I will not do over the phone if a collector has a legitimate collection they have to send you a letter in writing therefore if they have your phone number they probably have your address as well don't give out personal information over the phone actually what they are doing is using scare tactic to try to get you to pay the bill and could be fraudulent.
