June 9, 2014, 11:29 pm Same here, I played along. I wanted to see what they would try to pull. He had me open msconfig, said look at all of those services that are stopped.. that's because of spyware. Then wanted me to go to a couple web sites that were for remote assistance. Something like 121usahelp and tcchat. I told him my firewall was blocking the sites, and gave him the run around and hung up. He called back a few hours later and said "f you" and hung up. April 21, 2015, 3:22 pm A guy with a strong foreign accent called me on my cell and claimed he was from Microsoft Support. I recognized the scam immediately and played along with him, making him repeat and speak slower so I could understand him. After keeping him on the line for over half an hour I finally told him I was really confused, and that my Apple didn't have that key. I then explained that I was using the "PC Side" of my Apple computer running OS-10, and what he was telling me didn't make sense. He hung up. Oh, yeah. I'm the IT Director for one of the largest data corporations in the country. I just love playing games with these idiots when I have time. December 22, 2015, 5:21 pm I was on my landline phone for almost an hour - the lady with a thick accent in a call center - probably in Singapore, kept telling me about how she worked for the government - cyber crime unit - and they were after criminals who were using my computer for their own porn or money laundering business - and tried to convince me by taking me into the admin part of my computer and using the event viewer (I had never seen this part of my computer) to show me how many error and warning messages I had been receiving ...supposedly many from their office ...and then she wanted me to go to the www.121usahelp.com and I was very suspicious all along as she would never give me a contact number nor the name of her office - she eventually told me to put her on hold and check with the dept of justice myself, and she even gave me the number - but no government agency is that easy to get answers from, but as I didn't have a 'hold' on my landline phone, I told her I'd check and she could call me back later it was then she said that it wasn't her job, that instead she'd just say I wasn't cooperating with her and send my file on up to the department that issue a warrant for my computer being used for illegal activities - and that I'd be faced with $8000 fine and possible jail time - after a little yelling back and forth, I hung up to check on things - and I was correct, you can't talk to the people at the department of justice: cyber crime division ...and perusing the net, I found this site ...and I'm telling you what happened ...at least so far.
