March 12, 2015, 2:00 pm Indian scam artists who want to steal your money with lies about getting a big fat US grant check for $8500. These people from my research are also the same people involved with the Microsoft tech support scams. There are clearly call centres dedicated to criminal activity and this is one such number. They are from India or Pakistan and using computer ip phones with spoofing (fake caller id) to hide their locations keep the scam running while hidden from authorities. April 4, 2015, 5:31 pm This is a US Grant scam. The real grant department has made public statements about the illegality of this type of call and how it's a complete scam intended to steal your money. They will use the $7500 to $9000US grant as a way to lure you into giving them money through a prepaid card or credit card. Most financial calls are illegitimate anyway so it's just a smart idea to block or ignore this caller. Caller Company: Government Grant Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher

April 16, 2015, 7:13 am I got a call telling me that I had been selected by the US Grant Department to get a free $9,000.00 grant and that they just needed some information and small payment to secure the grant for me so they could send it to me. They even gave me a fake website which seems to have been taken down already at http://www.usagovernmentgrant.org/ Had a obvious accent from India which seems typical of these callers. April 10, 2017, 12:47 pm My phone security app blocked the call before my phone could even ring once. Decided to look online and see who/what it was exactly. Looks like these mobile phone security apps really do work Caller Type: Scammer/Phisher |
