Very rude arrogant young men conducting this scam. A Canadian news show once revealed a audiotape of one of these tech scammers making death threats against someone who began to question him saying "I know where you live and can send people" with a smug tone in his voice. The purpose of the call is to mislead you into thinking you need to purchase a tech support membership for hundreds of dollars and to buy software that is free. December 31, 2014, 3:51 am A very misleading telemarketing sales call for selling tech support memberships and then selling you software that is actually available free online. The FTC has come after a number of companues pulling this scam, but it continues. They will try to tell you something is wrong with your computer like viruses and then fool you that common system errors are a sign that you are infected. January 22, 2015, 3:37 pm This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). They further violate the TCPA by refusing to provide a phone number or physical address when asked. Their scam is to inform the victim that the victim's computer has been sending out repeated calls about problems and security violations, and they have called to fix those problems. This is clearly a scam. Your computer does not have your phone number to give out to telemarketing scams like this and unless you have contracted with an external monitoring service, your computer is not notifying someone else of problems and asking them to contact you.
