September 2, 2014, 10:00 pm This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by not having an operator on the line when the phone is answered, and still further violate it by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. The recorded message is the standard 'this is your last opportunity to take advantage of this offer to lower your interest rates' scam. When you do get to an operator, they further violate the TCPA by hanging up instead of providing a physical address and phone number when asked. This is clearly a scam. April 30, 2015, 4:30 pm Appears to be a scam solicitor phone call. I called the number back. All you get is a recording asking you to "press any digit to be removed from this 'list". After you press a digit your get a "thank you" reply. Not sure if I did the right thing, but if they stop calling my cell phone that would be good. May 7, 2015, 6:21 pm A scammer that wants to trick you into giving them your credit card by offering reduced rates on the card and then lying to you that you are required to verify yourself with punching the card # into the phone. This is an automating skimming attempt and the FTC is after these people for all the $495 or more charges that appear on people's cards immediately after falling for the con. This is just a ruse to con you into entering your cc# into the phone and allowing them to bill you hundreds of dollars. This is a big scam that the service NoMoRobo was invented to try to reduce. June 1, 2015, 3:05 pm Got a call from 231-267-8110 on June 1, 2015 at 12:11 in the afternoon. Number did not look familiar, so I didn't answer. My answering machine got it, but no messge was left. June 15, 2015, 11:05 am A definite scammer phoning about reducing my interest rates on my card. Sounds like nonsense as card services does not usually make calls like this requiring verification. Usually they only verify you when you call them direct. This kind of call would be too risky for the real card services. Offer was time limited to pressure me into typing number into phone. June 17, 2015, 6:41 pm I agree with previous comments that this is a phishing scam. Call was automated and offering to lower my current interest rate. They never said which card company they were with which should be the first sign that you are dealing with a scammer. A legit card services company would list the bank the card is for along with the brand of credit card. Automated phishing scam and I've heard from other number reports similar to this one that a $495 charge on your card is very common to people who fall for this scam.
