July 12, 2014, 6:38 am I had a call stating my Mastercard had been locked for security reasons due to fraud. I called MC and was told that everything was okay. December 13, 2014, 12:29 pm I received a call from my son. It was him, but the caller ID said it was an "out of area" call from 213-457-0580. He is not out of area, and he is identified on my phone. The sound of his voice and the call itself was off. I even asked him if he was on a different cell phone. He said no. How could this happen. What's the mechanism? September 4, 2015, 11:27 am A number of different fraud attempts are using this line. Fake website registrations offering credit or Verizon or even credit card fraud warnings from fake card service departments wanting you to verify your information with them in order to unlock the freeze on your account. Call your real card services department using the number on the back of your card to 100% prove this is a fake. or call Verizon or whoever they say they are with. September 27, 2015, 3:05 pm A lot of people are getting fake Microsoft tech support calls on this number. Possibly even from other tech companies. The MS scam often works by faking a virus infection and them getting you to change settings on your computer that allows remote management. They fake fixing the fake problem and then try to sell you software which is free on the internet along with tech support subscriptions that will have no people answering if you call it after paying hundreds of dollars for it.
