December 11, 2014, 12:54 pm I found this number is a verification call from GOOGLE VOICE. When a person adds a forwarding number to their Google Voice account, (a number which will also ring when anybody calls their GV number), Google makes sure the person requesting the addition actually owns or has control over the forwarding number by showing a 2 digit validation code on the GV page and dialing the number asking whomever answers to enter the code shown. Sometimes people enter the wrong forwarding number by mistake and Google will call the wrongly entered number anyway, seeking the validation code. They will offer to send you extra money if you make the payment for them. They will send you a fake Paypal payment or fake check in the mail. February 11, 2016, 11:54 am Bottom line...do not answer a call from this #!! It's a scam via craiglist ad you posted. I was first contacted via text by another # that was not even from my area. They wanted to pay without inspecting furniture, by money order and additional $50 to hold. When I said no and cash only, they came back via text to say they will pay cash and to pickup a call from them now and dial 03 to speak with them. That right there told me it was a scam. February 27, 2016, 8:28 am 202-455-8888 called me twice already all in the same month but days later. I never picked up because the two times they called, it was in the middle of the night. After their phone call, a google Verification code text message shortly follows. The first time they called me I only got ONE verification code text. The second time I got like ELEVEN from 2 different Google verification text things, one being the one I got from before. I honestly could care less about my email because I'm so young and all I use emails for are game sign ups, but still who the hell is this person and I want them to leave me alone. March 16, 2016, 2:03 pm I have been communicating with someone on FB who told me his phone needed to be verified but he was out of the country and could I do it. He gave me a code and almost immediately I got a call from this number. How could I verify his number from my phone??? Needless to say I did't answer or put in the code. I got a voice mail saying "Only you will hear this code" and then it says some code and hangs up. I'm pretty sure it was a Google verification and somebody typed in my number by mistake. I thought she may of been a counselor. I let her know everything was fine. But if your making calls for date's and a woman answers well-known. I've seen the name in my spam box and a few more telling me via email I'm around the corner if you want to hookup. So maybe online sex talk.

May 13, 2016, 7:13 pm I applied for a job on Craigslist. I got a text from 1 (619) 352-0656. They were saying they were from a company I had applied for and asked if they could call to go over my resume. I said yes and then was told to be connected to a conference call to enter "65" and I would be connected to the hiring manager. Well, I did... And it said my account was activated and to set up a voicemail. I then realized something wasn't right. Told whoever was texting me to quit texting me and immediately researched this number! It is a SCAM and if you enter the number they tell you to then you need to go to your gmail, click the box that has 9 little boxes and click on "voice" you then need to set up your OWN google voice account so you can get your number off of this scam account. If you don't all your calls and messages are then forwarded to this person and they can use YOUR number!! Do not answer the number if it ever calls you without you knowing! July 3, 2016, 12:34 pm A girl I was texting in another state asked for me to put in a 2 digit code she provided to me. I ignored the call and googled the number. Apparently when someone is attempting to change your google account password associated with your cell phone number, Google actually calls the phone number and asks for you to verify that it's you trying to change the password. Obviously, if you're not trying to change your password, and someone else is telling you to put in the digits they provided for you, then they are trying to change your password and access your information. They want access to your email, calendar, search history, YouTube history, any information they can get in order to rip you off, or sell your information. Sometimes people forget that Google asks for your cell phone number while setting up your account, it can be a double edged sword. They use different numbers too, and is also a scam making you believe that you owe the IRS and that they filed a lawsuit against you from 5 years ago!! Damn well know that I don't owe any taxes to anybody. Person left voicemail, with "official case number" starting with CF & 5 digit numbers. Then they called again with different number claiming that I owe half to a $1000 to the IRS and that I have two days to pay. Total to pay was $5476 which is stupid because why would they file a lawsuit now after 5 years of doing correct taxes. Person said that there was miscalculation on taxes, but I got my tax refund every year and now they're using IRS and "filing a lawsuit against you"? Screw these guys.
